Musician

mastering
engineer.
After twenty years of making and performing music across genres, stages and listening environments around the world, Jannis Bentler came to mastering with a simple conviction: there is a more musical way to do it.
Mastering is often treated as the final technical step. To Jannis, it is the opposite: a highly sensitive, deeply musical process that ultimately shapes how a song reaches and moves its listener. The first question is never what needs fixing? — it is what needs to be felt?
Technology follows that intention, not the other way around. And so does communication: with artists, producers and mixing engineers. Because the best master isn’t made in isolation. It is the final step in making sure the listener feels what the artist wants them to feel.
Going deeper into mastering meant going deeper into how audio equipment actually works — power supplies, grounding, cables, components and circuits.
Along the way, Jannis learned from some of the finest old masters of studio and broadcast engineering. Drawing on this knowledge and years of hands-on experience, he now also offers

power.
Over the years, Jannis's work as a mastering engineer led him to experiment with, modify and eventually design his own speakers.
What started as a personal pursuit naturally evolved into OTOMO, a speaker company founded with his longtime studio partner Mathias Schober.
Bringing together their experience as musicians, mastering and mixing engineers, DJs, sound aesthetes and design lovers, they create customizable HiFi speakers built around one conviction: exceptional, organic and tangible sound starts with a deep understanding of music and electrical power.
say hi to Jannis
What's different about working with Jannis?
He's a musician himself. Don't get him wrong, he's also a total audio engineering nerd, but first and foremost, it's about the vibe, the emotion, and how music feels. Having spent decades making music in different places, projects, and roles, he knows what it takes to make a song truly feel right.
That's why he loves to actually talk with you, to understand the vision and emotion at the heart of every song. And if needed and wanted, he'll also work directly with producers and mixing engineers to refine the mix before mastering, all to achieve the best possible result.
